Attendance
Should it be necessary for your child to miss a day of school, you must send a written and signed note stating the reason for the child's absence within 3 days of the absence, including the following info:
- Legal First & Last Name
- Grade
- Specific date of absences
- Specific reason student was absent
- Parent signature
If a doctor's not is submitted, please make sure it covers all days of the absence. If not, please send an accompanying parent note with the above-listed information. For questions email [email protected].
Visitors & Safety
ALL visitors must check in with a valid Driver's License and receive a Visitor Tag from the front office before entering the building. The visitor tag must be worn the entire time visitors are in the building. Classroom visits will be permitted with the principal's and teacher's prior approval.
Teacher conferences will need to be scheduled during the teacher's conference time.
Change in Transportation, Early Pickup & Change in Pickup Adult
If a change in transportation needs to be made, please send a written and signed note explaining how you want your child to go home. Only in an emergency situation will the school accept an email to [email protected], no later than 2:00 pm. This email must contain a copy of your photo id, your student's legal first and last name, the original way they go home and how you want them to go home that day.
Parents who must pick up their child early for an after school doctor's appointment, etc., should do so by 2:45 pm.
If someone other than the parent is to pick up your child, the person's name must be listed in Skyward as family member or an emergency contact or designated on the emergency form. The person designated to pick up your child must be prepared to show appropriate identification to school officials.
Classroom Communication, School Email & Tuesday Folders
Tuesday has been as the day that all student work, office memos, campus and district level information, and other important messages will be sent home. Please check and read over the material and sign and return all necessary items to school.
Make sure that you have signed up for three forms of communication to be in-the-know: (1) subscribe to the weekly Pomona eNews email, (2) join the Pirate PTO, and (3) subscribe to your students' teachers' Class Dojo accounts. Additionally, many teachers also have Google classroom environments set up for parents to join as well.
Student Birthdays
Your child may bring in store bought birthday treats for the class to celebrate their birthday (or half-birthdays* for summer babies). Teachers appreciate it when parents end in treats that are single servings (cupcakes, cookies, donuts, etc. . . ) because they are easier to distribute. Birthday treats will be distributed at lunch, recess or the end of the day. Party favors, balloons, flowers, stuffed animals, and other birthday gifts are not allowed.
Birthday party invitations may be sent home from school as long as every student in the classroom (or every boy/every girl) is receiving an invitation.
*Half Birthdays work like this: June celebrates in December, July celebrates in January, and August celebrates in February.
Cafeteria Information and Procedures
