Corporate Giving
Company Matching Gifts Programs
Thank you for giving to the Pirate PTO General Fund. Your financial gift allows the Pirate PTO to support important programs and initiatives at Pomona Elementary School -- benefitting staff, teachers and students. You may be able to make your gift go even further via your company’s Matching Gifts Program.
Companies of all sizes match donations for their employees to non-profit organizations, including elementary schools and Parent-Teacher Organizations like ours, because it’s an easy and structured way for them to support the good work that matters to their employees. Moreover, most companies include Education as a tenet of their Corporate Social Responsibility programs.
For example, Houston company BP will match dollar-for-dollar charitable giving (up to $5000). ExxonMobil will match up to three dollars for every dollar of employee giving (up to $22,500).
Don’t see your employer’s name in the search above? Make sure to check with your HR representative. It’s possible that your employer offers matching gifts but isn’t captured in this system.

Volunteer Grants
Volunteer grants are corporate giving programs that encourage volunteerism in communities where employees live and work. Through these programs, companies provide cash grants to organizations like Pirate PTO where employees regularly volunteer. These programs effectively turn your time and effort as a volunteer into usable funds to benefit our school.
For example, Houston company ConocoPhillips will award $500 for every 20 hours an employee volunteers (Max $1,000). ExxonMobil will award $500 for every 20 hours an employee volunteers (Max $2,000).
Volunteer grants are important because they are essentially “free money” that is often overlooked. A typical volunteer grant process looks something like this:
Step 1: Before volunteering with Pirate PTO, determine if your company provides volunteer grants using this link. Simply search for your company for details.
Step 2: Volunteer as you normally would with Pirate PTO.
Step 3: Complete any forms required by your company -- often electronically. Your company will review your volunteer grant application eligibility and will confirm that you volunteered. Often they need a Pirate PTO board member name and contact to confirm the grant application is legit.
Step 4: The company sends a check to Pirate PTO.
